Axiz Sancar donated his Nobel Prize money of $310,000 to his Aziz & Gwen Sancar Foundation of Chapel Hill. On Franklin Street, near downtown Chapel Hill, he and his wife bought a house with the money. The Foundation houses Turkish students. It promotes Turkish culture. Sancar came to the US as a graduate student from Turkey.
